Artisan Story:

Ricardo lives with his family in a small town called Tigua, at the shore of the Quilotoa Lake in Ecuador. Following the long-lasting traditions of previous generations, Ricardo learned to paint when he was just a young boy. Now, his children are maintaining this artistic skill alive by working alongside their father.

Like many members of the Tigua community, Ricardo is very proud and passionate about his hand-painting craft. Each piece is meticulously created and cannot be replicated. Most importantly, each work of art preserves the cultural heritage of his family and the Tigua community.

Many artisans in Ecuador, and across the world, have been heavily impacted by the health crisis. By sharing his work and story, Woven seeks to increase the demand for artisan goods and improve the livelihood of artisan entrepreneurs.
